LOST SOCIETY case study

13th March 2019

Here at Medash Signs it’s important to us that we maintain enduring relationships with our customers, and during the course of our forty-year history we have enjoyed working with many business owners on a recurring basis. Every sign project is different, but we love to take on jobs that are a little out of the ordinary - and the signage for the revamped Lost Society bar and restaurant in Battersea, London, was one such job.

The bar, which used to be known as The Lost Angel from 2009 before changing its identity to Lost & Co in 2016, has just undergone a stylish new rebrand to revive the Lost Society name (which at one time was a popular venue located 20 minutes’ walk away in nearby Clapham - now closed).

We have had the pleasure of working with the owner of the Lost Group for over a decade - in fact we installed the signage at the original location of Lost Society many years ago - and have worked on other projects for them since.

We were approached in December 2018 to produce and install the signage for the new-look bar. The distinctive building is located on a corner and has a prominent curved wall above the main fascia of which the owner intended to make a major feature.

We were tasked with building a strikingly illuminated corner sign for the site - the curvature of the building had to be carefully considered to ensure our new sign would fit like a glove.

We set about constructing the curved lightbox from fret-cut 2mm aluminium for the back trays, with LEDs and transformers for lighting behind the text and logo portions of the sign. For the face panels we used more aluminium, this time finished to black and backed up with semi-translucent opal acrylic (to which we added gold self-adhesive vinyl to give the impression of glowing gold text).

The full sign is an impressive sight, standing over twelve feet tall and adorned with Lost Society's elegant art deco branding.

We also replaced the fascia signage on the building, with the lettering made from individually flat-cut brushed gold Dibond fixed in place on locators.

The finished building exterior is a testament to the visual impact quality signage can make - strikingly visible after dark and bursting with 1920s chic.

Lost Society is located in Battersea Park Road - just around the corner from Battersea Park itself - and opened its doors in February. The venue is already proving to be a huge hit with the locals, charming them with its period Chesterfield sofas, mirrors and stylish decor - not to mention the cocktails!

The entire project took us two months from initial brief to final installation, and we couldn’t be more proud of having worked on it.
